The Fire and Police Pension Association was established January 1, 1980 and administers a statewide multiple employer public employee retirement system providing defined benefit plan coverage as well as death and disability coverage for police officers and firefighters throughout the State of Colorado.

The Association also administers local defined benefit pension funds for police officers and firefighters hired prior to April 8, 1978 whose employers have elected to affiliate with the Association; for volunteer fire defined benefit plans; and for local money purchase (defined contribution) pension plans.


There are no openings currently at Fire and Police Pension Association.


Medical and Dental                           A choice between Kaiser HMO or Triple Option Plan.  Single and half of the dependent coverage is paid for by FPPA.

 

Life Insurance/AD&D/

Long Term Disability                                    Fortis Insurance Company.  Life Insurance and Accidental Death & Dismemberment is 2 X's yearly salary and long term disability is 60%.  For employees with 5 years of service, PERA's disability pension would apply and the disability coverage will be supplemental.

 

Pension Plan                                     Public Employee Retirement Association.  Pension benefits.  Employee pays 8% and employer pays the balance.

 

Survivor Benefits                               Public Employee Retirement Association.  If you are a PERA member with at least one year of earned service credit, your survivors may qualify to receive survivor benefits.  Benefit amount depends on length of service and qualified survivor.

 

Deferred Compensation                  Fidelity 457 Plan.  A tax deferred retirement vehicle.   FPPA will match 50% of the employees contribution up to $500.

 

401k Plan                                           Public Employee Retirement Association.  A tax deferred retirement vehicle. 

 

Section 125                                       FPPA administered.  Tax reduction plan for medical and child care expenses.
